Prepare a night-sound session

Check the sound-saving option before tracking and allow microphone access for sound features. On iOS, saving is off by default. On Android, check the setting in your installed version. Follow the app’s setup guidance, then start your session.

Consider other people in the room and any background sound. Do not assume a fixed phone distance or a guaranteed detection rate.

Review events and saved clips separately

After tracking, open the report to review events such as snoring, talking, coughing and other noise. The labels are estimates based on recorded signals, not confirmed identities or medical findings.

A detected event does not guarantee a playable file. On iOS 1.5.15, choose 3 saved recordings per sleep session for full playback, across any category; Premium unlocks all. On Android, check installed-version access because rollout is unverified. Saving must be chosen before the session.

Observe patterns without diagnosing

Use timing, your own notes and comparable nights to ask practical questions about your routine. Background noise, another person, placement and microphone restrictions can affect what is recorded.

Snoring detection cannot establish or rule out sleep apnea. A quiet recording or missing events cannot prove normal breathing. Discuss concerning breathing symptoms or persistent daytime sleepiness with a healthcare professional.

Manage privacy deliberately

Records and saved clips remain on your device by default. Sharing or choosing to include eligible recordings in optional backup can send them off the device. Read the app policy for backup and deletion behavior.

Review the sleep-talking setup guide for preparation and the saved-recordings guide for missing files and management. Website calculators use no microphone and make no sound recording.

Sound recording questions

Can a snore recording diagnose sleep apnea?

No. NiceSleep is a wellness tool. Sound labels or quiet recordings cannot confirm or exclude a medical condition.

Can the app tell whose snoring it is?

A detected label does not confirm the person making the sound. Other people and background sounds can affect the record.

How many saved recordings can I listen to without Premium?

On iOS 1.5.15, every non-Premium user can choose any 3 saved recordings from each sleep session, across all sound categories, and listen to them in full. Replaying a chosen recording does not use another selection. A recording with multiple audio files counts as one selection. Premium unlocks all available saved recordings. Playback, waveform access and audio export follow the same access rules. Android has the same shared allowance implemented, but its public release has not been verified. Check the access shown in your installed Android app; do not assume the iOS allowance is available there yet.
