A phone can record a session
NiceSleep can track a sleep or nap session using your phone; a smartwatch is not required. Start the session in the app and position the phone as directed there. Review the completed record afterward.
Phone-based tracking is different from a clinical sleep study or measurements made by a wearable. The estimated sleep stages, scores, and sound events are intended for wellness and personal trend tracking.
Sound features use microphone permission
When you grant microphone access, NiceSleep processes audio signals on the device to detect sleep-related sound events and estimate aspects of the session. Saved event clips depend on the sound-clip saving setting.
Microphone access is relevant to sound-based features. Check the app’s current instructions and operating-system permissions if an expected event is missing. A missing sound event is not proof that it did not happen.
Health sync is a separate choice
With permission, supported sleep-session records can be read from or written to Health Connect on Android or Apple Health on iOS. Availability depends on the device, operating system, and records those services provide.
This does not mean NiceSleep connects directly to every smartwatch. Data arriving through a health service depends on the other app or device that supplied it. Review the record source when comparing sessions.
Know where records go
Sleep records and saved clips remain on your device by default. Optional cloud backup is off until you enable it. Android uses private Google Drive app data; iOS uses a private iCloud database.
Read the app privacy policy for backup contents, health-record handling, deletion, and other services. Website calculator inputs are separate: they stay in the page and are not sent into the NiceSleep app.
