Before bed: choose to save clips
Open NiceSleep and check sound saving before you start tracking. On iOS it is off by default; enable it if you want audio files for later review. On Android, check the setting in your installed version. Microphone permission alone does not choose sound saving.
Read the app’s placement guidance. Make sure the phone can continue the session and consider anyone else whose voice may be recorded. There is no guaranteed distance or detection accuracy.
Start a session, then review it in the morning
Allow microphone access for sound features and start your sleep session. After the session ends, open its report and review events labelled as sleep talking. The official example below shows where sound events and playback controls appear; your interface can vary.
If a saved clip is available, use the playback control according to your account’s access. Listen with care: a label can be mistaken, and the voice may belong to another person. An event is not a transcript or proof of what you said.
Why an event might not have audio
An event describes a detected signal. A playable file is a separate saved clip. If sound saving was off during tracking, an event can still appear without a file to listen to; turning saving on afterward cannot recreate that audio.
A missing event does not prove that you were silent. Background sounds, recording conditions and permissions can affect the record. Check the settings before another session rather than treating one night as a complete account.
Keep the recording private
Saved clips stay on the device by default. Optional cloud backup and deliberate sharing are separate actions. Review who is audible before sharing and follow the app privacy policy for eligible recordings and deletion.
On iOS 1.5.15, choose 3 saved recordings per sleep session across any category for full playback; Premium unlocks all available saved recordings. Android rollout of this allowance is unverified. Read the access details below. NiceSleep is for personal observation, not diagnosis.
Sound recording questions
Does microphone access automatically save sleep talking?
No. Sound saving is a separate option. On iOS it starts off; check your Android version’s setting. Choose it before the session.
Can I recover a clip from an event if saving was off?
A detected event is not a saved file. Enabling saving afterward cannot recreate audio that was not saved.
How many saved recordings can I listen to without Premium?
On iOS 1.5.15, every non-Premium user can choose any 3 saved recordings from each sleep session, across all sound categories, and listen to them in full. Replaying a chosen recording does not use another selection. A recording with multiple audio files counts as one selection. Premium unlocks all available saved recordings. Playback, waveform access and audio export follow the same access rules. Android has the same shared allowance implemented, but its public release has not been verified. Check the access shown in your installed Android app; do not assume the iOS allowance is available there yet.
